Operation Santa
Letters to Santa can be adopted starting today – December 4, 2020
Each year, hundreds of thousands of letters sent to Santa from children and families arrive at Post Offices around the country. Most letters ask for toys and games. Some ask for basic necessities. Some ask for help for themselves and their loved ones.
USPS Operation Santa makes it possible for individuals and organizations to adopt these letters and send responses and thoughtful gifts in Santa’s place.
If you, or someone you know, needs some magical assistance from Santa this year, please write a letter. If you are in a position to provide magical assistance, please adopt a letter. Right now, OPERATION SANTA NEEDS LETTERS! Children can send letters to Santa Claus at 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888.
SENDING LETTERS
Letters to Santa are being accepted from Nov. 16 – Dec. 15. A good letter to Santa includes the following:
- A return address either on the envelope or in the letter or both.
- Specific asks: For clothes and shoes, there are specific sizes, styles, colors. For toys, games and books, there are names and titles. This isn’t required, but it makes it easier for the adopters.
- Addressed correctly.
- A First-Class postage stamp on the envelope (This is a new requirement this year).
ADOPTING LETTERS
Letters to Santa can be adopted from Dec. 4 – Dec. 19 at USPSOperationSanta.com.
To participate, create an account and get verified. Find letters that speak to you and fulfill them. If you find lots that you like, consider starting a team. Bring your gift to a participating Post Office location to get it in Santa’s sleigh.
“Operation Santa is the ideal program for a local PCC to embrace,“ says Judy de Torok, National PCC Vice-Chair. “Creating a PCC team is an effective way to help those in need, while at the same time strengthening the bonds of PCC members.”
We invite you to share in the magic of the holidays and participate in the Operation Santa Program.
